Prayer Requests and Praises
Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Romans 12:12 (NIV)
- Carla Ilund’s brother, Keith May, was doing yard work and backed into his smoker, burning the back of both of his legs. He will go to the burn unit in Nashville on 3/27 for a skin graft.
- Lisa Gonzalez’ grandson, age 15, is in the hospital with a brain bleed. Update (3/11): When he passed out Thursday (broke his nose in the fall) he hit his temple. He’s suffering from his brain bleed, severe concussion, and was unconscious, he is in and out of a coma. Had a few seizures and stopped breathing yesterday. Memory loss is back, sleeps over 95 %of the day, has IV’s…not eating, doctors were contemplating a feeding tube…not paralyzed but un able to feel his legs or move them, or sit up, when he is awake. Update: He was able to go home. Continued prayers for recovery.
- Leigh Ann Skipper’s daddy, Aaron Revels, is having a prostate biopsy on Friday morning (2/27) due to a lesion that was seen on an MRI. Update (3/25): He has a small spot on his prostate. Will need radiation but no chemo or surgery. Will have a PET scan to see if there is any other cancer. Please pray for those results.
- Evangeline Hines (Evelyn Gimon’s Granddaughter) born at 23 weeks on Feb. 6. Next few weeks are critical.
- Libby Sawyer (Rikki Wernquist’s mom) is having surgery to repair a broken foot on Dec. 1. Pray that the swelling has gone down enough to fully fix it. Update: They were able to stabilize it and put rods in her foot. She will need a second surgery to remove them. Please pray for her healing and recovery. 2nd Update: She is home with Rikki and continuing to recover. Update (2/24) – She has been cleared to walk on her own.
- Andy Mahoney (father of SCA students Allie, Zoe and SCA Alumni Eli) had a defibrillator implanted on Nov. 26. Please pray for his recovery.
- Lisa Gonzalez’s sons: Adam James Gonzalez – Bladder Cancer and Jonathan Edward Gonzalez – Mass located on his spine. Wisdom on how to move forward for treatment.
- Many of you may remember praying for Dalton Lambert in 2023 for his testicular cancer. Prayer is so powerful and we need your prayers again for this sweet family. Dalton has received another report that the cancer has returned as a mass on his left lung. Please pray for him and his family as he begins some very extensive chemo treatments through December. Update (12/1): He is finishing his last treatment. Please pray that he will be healthy enough to stay out of the hospital.
- Julie Jackson who worked here and her husband Johnny, who served as our Housekeeping supervisor for a number of years. Johnny has stage 4A esophageal cancer. He will start chemo soon in hopes to get ready for surgery. Please pray for Julie and Johnny.
- Renee Burdick (a former elementary teacher at SCA) was diagnosed with a breast cancer for the 2nd time in early August. This appears to a different kind of breast cancer than she had before. She has begun meeting with drs to discuss treatments and their plan of action. Please pray for Renee and her family during this trying time. UPDATE (3/18): PRAISE : After 5 surgeries, the doctors have told her that she is cancer free – no chemo or radiation needed.
